Groundswell is still here!

Hey all! Groundswell has been a little dormant for a few months, as we have been intensely engaged in building our local Occupy Movement. But we are still here and getting re-organized. We have an amazing benefit coming up on March 10th at Aubergine’s (Sebastopol) for two of our members who are facing some serious financial difficulties.  Plus, we are continuing our work to bring powerful, worker-led organizing to Peace and Justice Center of Sonoma County, working with youth-led organizing from Food Not Bombs, Free Mind Media, and the Occupy Santa Rosa Youth Caucus. Please donate at www.pjcsonoma.org and help us keep the struggle going!

23,000 Nurses on Strike today!

23,000 California RNs Striking Today—09/22/11

Walkout to Protest Sutter’s Attack on RN Patient Advocacy Rights, Big Cuts in Nurses’ Healthcare, and to Support Kaiser Coworkers.

Nearly 23,000 registered nurses are on a one-day strike today at 34 Northern and Central California hospitals, saying they will not accept attacks on RN rights to speak out for patients or cuts in healthcare or retiree coverage for nurses or other hospital workers.

The walkout affects two of the biggest and wealthiest hospital chains in California, Sutter Health and Kaiser Permanente, as well as Children’s Hospital in Oakland. The RNs are members of the California Nurses Association/National Nurses United. The strike ends at 7 a.m. on Friday though Sutter and Children’s have announced plans for a punitive lockout of nurses to extend the dispute.

More Information About the Groundswell Blog

Hello Again,

This is just a template!  Absolutely anything at all about this blog can change.  Contact information can be added; colors and pictures can be changed; new pages can be added; and the WEB ADDRESS, TITLE and TAGLINE CAN ALL BE CHANGED.

SO, the group should decide what it wants!  What motto does the group want?  What should the web address be?  Does anyone have rad pictures they’d like to send in?  Those can be added.

Once the group decides what it wants, I can hop on and change it and then email it out again for more revision.

Hopefully soon there will be some firm group decisions so that the blog can start to be hella clean.

Developing a GroundSwell Blog

Hello Swellers!

Here is a first attempt at a GroundSwell blog.  Nothing at all needs to be set in stone about this.  The content can change.  The layout can change.  The web address and appearance can all change.  I am just trying to get a template together so that people can send in constructive commentary and slowly the site can mold itself to people’s vision.
